Sometimes people inspire me. A girlfriend of mine, recently quit a high paying consultancy gig to head home to London and study medicine. Her reasons for doing this were clearly not financially driven, but rather stemmed from an innate desire to contribute to society and help people, at least this is what she told me at 4am on New years day over some shisha. While I am extremely excited for her, its still quite sad to say goodbye to very new friends in a new city.
I recently (2 months ago) moved from Sydney to Singapore (after a lot of flying back and forth). My husband and I moved into a condo, not far from the famous Orchard road (shopping mecca for all those on this side of the planet) and near Clarke Quay (where all expats can be found…..).
So from the sunny streets of Sydney, this blog has now moved to Singapore, though i’m sure there will be lots of other destinations on the cards (just got back from a weekend in Thailand and heading off to Malaysia next weekend), this blog (and hence my wardrobe) is destined for a more tropical feel. So how does one stay stylish (or at least respectable) in this weather while avoiding the obvious faux pas of frizzy hair and tropical prints (these may be ok for holiday, not so ok when its making your way into your day to day wardrobe)?
Today’s outfit – Dempsey hill (another popular expat haunt) and a friend’s farewell brunch at Jones, the Grocer. The name doesn’t sound particularly enticing (on the way there, i pictured lunch at a cold storage deli), but an amazing providore with a beautiful and simple breakfast menu and an unbelievable cheese selection (though lets be clear, i am not a cheese fan).
New simple crisp light weight shirt from Zara – perfect for Singapore (I ♥ Zara), Mimco metal and leather chain and everything else from Witchery…..
